Film Coating

Excellence in technology and cost leadership

The basic functions of a film coat are to increase the resistance of the dosage form to physical damage during handling, to improve appearance, patient acceptability and, if required, to provide clearly recognizable identity by use of colour. All Instacoat systems are capable of meeting these requirements irrespective of additional functionalities, such as modified release, stability enhancement, branding and anti-counterfeiting and are presented as fully formulated dry powder systems for rapid reconstitution in the chosen solvent. In this guidance, systems providing the basic requirements only are shown under "General Purpose Coatings". Coatings with additional properties are listed separately by function.
